spinoffs

from what i could gather, there are 3 spinoffs of soundodger, only two of 'em can be acessed pretty much easily

soundodger+

soundodger+ is the most popular version of soundodger, being a remake of the original flash game. in fact, if you look up any gameplay of soundodger, it will most likely be this one. because sd+ is literally built off of the og flash version, it retains a lot of the jank from the original game that will be covered in its own neat section sometime

soundodger live

probably the goofiest official version. soundodger live is a version of the flash version built for the fucking kinect. that's right folks, the xbox 360's very own kinect. it was created for indiecade 2013, an indie game festival where devs could show the world whatever monstrosity they were cooking in their basement. and what better way to promote a precision bullet hell game than by making it playable with the human body. truly the ddr of our generation. originally, sdlive was only availabe at indiecade 2013 and the only footage that exists of it was of grainy iphone 4 footage that looks like it was filmed in secret. thankfully, bean released the files from whatever lovecraftian prison they were contained at, and if you somehow have an original kinect, you can download the files at bean's itch.io page. the instructions are really in-depth and you have to have a whole set up to play it, but i wholeheartedly recommend you to download the files and become the first professional sdlive player if you have a week to waste

soundodger waves edition

soundodger waves edition is the only version of the game that you can no longer find anywhere, thanks to flash player having a stroke and dying. once again, it is built off of the flash version. back in the original soundodger, the final track "waves from nothing" could only be played once, if i recall correctly, you got every single heart in the game. however, instead of beating literally every single advanced level in the game, you could instead take a shortcut straight to the end with the waves edition. the interesting thing, however, is that waves from nothing contained a basic version that was exclusive to sdwaves. the only reference to it in sd+ was that one of the default color combinations in the editor was the color scheme of waves from nothing's basic version. while the level's xml file can still be found in the soundiscord, the actual game requires flash to play.
